Dr Kwok obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1990. He further qualified in internal medicine with Master of Medicine from NUS. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (U.K.), after qualifying with a diploma from the Royal College in Edinburgh, Scotland in the U.K. He trained in cardiology at the National University Hospital & National Heart Centre in Singapore, and completed a fellowship in Heart Failure & Heart Transplantation at Stanford University School of Medicine in USA.
He is Singapore’s first qualified transplant cardiologist, and established Singapore’s first multi-disciplinary Heart Failure Programme at the National Heart Centre of Singapore. As Director of the Programme, he oversaw the care of patients with advanced heart failure, heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices. During his service at the National Heart Centre Singapore, he was actively involved in medical education and research. He was Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and an external Lecturer at the School of Nursing, Nanyang Polytechnic. He was the local Lead Investigator for several landmark clinical trials.
Dr Kwok has been in private practice since 2007. In addition to practising general cardiology, his professional interests are in heart failure, heart transplantation and cancer-treatment related heart conditions. He has been invited as an External Expert for the Centre for Drug Evaluation of Health Sciences Authority on several occasions.
Dr Kwok is the Founding-President of the Heart Failure Society (Singapore), a Past-President of the Singapore Cardiac Society, and Past-Governor of the Singapore Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. He recently retired from the Board of the Singapore Heart Foundation after 10 years of service.
